There is an interesting article in today's Sydney Morning Herald about lower back pain.
In general terms, the author covered many aspects of back pain, such as its symptoms, medication, management options and the need to prevent future complications.
I'd like to first express my commadation for articles like this, it increases public awareness of the problems associated back pain and spreads knowledge about its prevention and treatment strategies. Many cases of back pain are easily preventable through good life style - maintaining good posture is one. Yet too often, in a fast paced society, people are too busy make changes for the good, early signs of back problems are missed, and only when pain flares up do they seek help, throwing money away at various diagnosis and treatments.
The author made a good point that most patients with back pain do not require X-ray or other types of imaging tools for diagnosis. And that one should not rush into treatments - wrong therapies at the wrong time could be detrimental to the recovery; and more often than not, doing multiple therapies, such as medication, exercise and acupuncture at the same time, the outcome is less than the sum of all three. Physiotherapy can help recovery, but in my opinion, in event of tissue injuries, it is best not to over exercise them. Resting, letting the body deal with the reparation natually. Low Level Laser enhances this process through photochemical effect - similar to photosynthesis, in which plants absorb sun light, turning them into chemical energy aiding growth - the light energy of irradiating laser is converted into useful energy at the cellular level, accelerating tissue recovery.
Circulation is often improved as a direct result of low level laser therapy, locally, around the injured location, toxins released from inflammed ("fractured") tissues can be removed more efficiently, while nutient useful for tissue growth and regeneration can freely access site of treatment.
Many of my patients with back pain who could not find pain relief through medications, physiotherapy, massage, osteopath or a combination of these were able to feel reduced pain after the first session of Low Level Laser Therapy at Sydney Laser Health Solutions, some of them were able to handle daily task after just a few further sessions, and some chronic pain sufferers became completely pain free. They all benefited from LLLT. It has to be said that the effectiveness does depend on individual conditions, as the severity of injuries vary. In addition everyone respond to laser differently, and hence the degree laser induces healing change.
To sum up, it is important to have good habits as life style does play a large role in prevention of back problems. If problems do find you, do not fear, Sydney Laser is here to bring you effective medical laser technology and helping you getting the Health Solutions you want.
